Team Two Members (Haoda: Developer, Maggie: Designer)
Duration 2 weeks
Tools Unity|Cinema4D

THE PROBLEM

The 3D objects that produced for the technology seminar are all in various scales, and people have a hard time visualizing how big/small those objects really are in two-dimensional screen.

THE OBJECTIVE

Our final class presentation would be conducted in exhibition style, and everyone is encouraged to have a visit. How to visualize these art pieces to give audiences scale sense as well as to increase their engagement?

DESIGN PROCESS

User Flow

Enter the game

Tap to generate a model

Walk closer to freeze it

Adjust iphone to check detail

Usability Testing

We conducted the first round of usability testing and let users tried our AR game for the first time. Without our company and explanations, we found out users had a hard time figuring out how to correctly click on the screen to make more art models pop out.

DESIGN STRATEGY

On-boarding Page Design
By integrating one of the animation into the on-boarding page, users can get a initial sense of the intention as well as the outcomes of the game.

On-boarding Instruction Page
After the first round of usability test, we observed and noticed that it was important to have instruction for clear guidance. Here are the second iteration that I designed for the instruction pages.

AR DESIGN OUTCOME

REFLECTION

After observing audience’s engagement and gaining feedbacks from the second usability test , I realize there were some potentials to improve the APP, and the next step for me would be to create auxiliary visual guides in case of abnormal situation when the model comes out of the screen or model loss.
